Historically Louisiana has had low voter turnout due to chronic disappointment with the lack of representation and missed opportunities to resolve needed issues in their local communities from their elected officials.

Vote Smart Louisiana's mission is to ensure economic development, housing, and employment opportunities are equally distributed amongst all Louisianans. To do this we must empower the African American and minority electorate in Louisiana - more black people will vote if they thoroughly understand and believe in who and what they are voting for.

We monitor, support, advocate, and elect candidates who will ensure liberty, justice and economic advancement to all residents of Louisiana regardless of their race, religion, education level, economic status or where they come from. We seek to replace officials who have demonstrated a pattern of stagnation or opposition to our mission.

We are dedicated to ensuring that every voter has the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions and actively participate in the democratic process. Through fostering a deeper understanding of the issues at stake, the candidates running, and the impact of each vote, we aim to increase voter turnout and engagement within our communities.
